This was taken from the ‘shore’ of the resort town of Morecambe, a few miles from my home town. I grew up with this view, but it’s one that is so expansive and often so dramatic that it’s difficult to portray any of it in a photograph.

I got very muddy taking this picture. Morecambe Bay is mostly made of very fertile mud. Very fertile. It sticks to your shoes.
